Great start for Senior Girls’ soccer season!

Coláiste Muire 2, St. Mary’s Newport 1

It was a shaky start for the girls as they went into half time losing 1-0-(against St.Marys from Newport,Tipperary) even with the great attempts by captain of the day, Megan O’ Keeffe, hitting the crossbar twice.

The cold weather didn’t dampen the girls hopes going into the second half. With a wonderful goal from captain Megan O’ Keeffe taken from well outside the box, the girls were level at last.

Hearts were on edge as a few goals were nearly conceded against our favour, but a tremendous job was done by  goal keeper, Second year student, Aoibhinn Kidney.  She had great help from the team’s defenders.

Time was nearly up when the winning goal was scored by yet again, Megan O’ Keeffe.

The girls had made it into the semi-finals of the Munster Cup.

A brilliant day for all!

Well done girls!!!
