26 February 2013
Coláiste Muire 12
Villiers, Limerick 27
Villiers of Limerick proved too strong for the Coláiste Muire boys in the O’ Gorman Cup final which took place in Clonmel today. Following a tightly contested first half, the Crosshaven boys went in losing narrowly 8-5. The Limerick side opened the second half with a quick try which were followed by two more as they piled the pressure on.
Despite this onslaught, and injuries suffered to key players, the lads fought back, pushing a good try over with ten minutes to go. More pressure from Coláiste Muire kept the Villiers side on their toes but it wasn’t to be.
Another battling performance from the lads. Great displays from Finn Foley, Brian Scriven and Jordan Fahy weren’t enough on the day.

In a tightly contested affair in Myrtilleville Cross, Coláiste Muire defeated Waterford school Waterpark by the narrowest of margins. Having gotten off to a great start with a try from Evan Maverly straight from the kick off, the Crosshaven side were pegged back with a try and conversion from the Waterford side. The sides went in at half time with Waterpark in the lead 7-5.
In cold and wet conditions, the local side piled the pressure on, Colin Curran and Jeremy Rooney asking questions of the Waterpark rearguard. Counter attacks from the visitors were blocked through brave tackling from Jordan Fahy and Sam Murphy. Coláiste Muire remained in control but were failing to break through for the much-needed score.
Finally, with the clock ticking towards the final whistle, Sam Murphy put over a pressure penalty to put Crosshaven in front. The lads held out for the final minutes. The game finished Crosshaven 8, Waterpark 7 .
The final will be played next week.
