First Year girls of Coláiste Muire were crowned Cork champions following a tense final against local rivals Carrigaline Community Schools in Neptune Stadium. There was little between the sides in the first half as Carrigaline matched the Crosshaven girls basket for basket.

Fine defending from Lucy McCarthy and Shea Fitzgibbon and vital scores from Andrea Long and Katie Long saw the Coláiste Muire side pull away to victory. The girls will go on to represent their county in the All-Ireland play-offs.

In the Second Year final, Coláiste Muire girls were narrowly defeated by Skibbereen, losing by two points in overtime. After a very slow start, the game came alive in the final quarter with a fine defensive performance by Molly Murphy and Ciara O’Brien spearheading a spirited comeback. The game was decided in overtime by the smallest of margins.

The girls will get a chance to qualify for the All-Ireland series in a play-off after the Easter break.
