A new art piece in the school library has been recently unveiled, completed by 6th year art students. The large glass piece entitled ‘Realtin,’ is a beautiful addition to the school. It celebrates the rich history of the community of Crosshaven, primarily focusing on its maritime connections.

The final design is in the form of panes of coloured and textured glass featuring a large compass, made up of student drawings. The project was undertaken as part of a collaborative venture between the Design and Crafts Council of Ireland and the Professional Development Service for Teachers. Both sixth students and their art teacher Ms. Henshaw worked in collaboration with renowned glass artist Michael Ray to learn new skills of working in glass.

The project was a great success and achievement for the art students and it takes pride of place in the school library.
