The ninth annual Scifest was held at Cork Institute of Technology on Friday April 22nd 2016.  This very worthwhile event offers students the opportunity to showcase their scientific experience.  This year there was over 300 students participating, either as individuals or in group projects from 28 different schools from Cork City & County.  Altogether there were 140 projects exhibited across the disciplines of Life Sciences, Physical Sciences & Technology at three levels (Junior, Intermediate & Senior).

Four transition year students represented Colaiste Muire with three projects:

1) Eoghan Gethings: To investigate if experiences of disappointment or frustration reduce one’s empathy.

2) Kelly Williams: Sexism: Still Alive & Kicking?

3) Niamh Morrissey & Chloe O’ Riordan: Plant based Diets: Misconceptions versus Facts.

All students enjoyed the event and gained valuable experience being put through their paces by the judges.
