Ag Féachaint Siar ar Seachtain na Gaeilge 2017

Rinne daltaí ón idirbhliain an físeán seo chun féachaint siar ar an craic agus spraoi a bhí againn go léir sa scoil i rith Seachtain na Gaeilge. Comhghairdeas do na daltaí a ghlac páirt sa físeán agus do na daltaí a d’oibrigh air.

Seachtain na Gaeilge 2017

 

Bhí “Seachtain na Gaeilge” an rathúil againn i gColáiste Muire i mbliana.

Bhí Comórtas Sheanfhocail ar siúl do dhaltaí an chéad bhliain.  Bhí duaiseanna ar fáil don 1ú, 2ú 3ú áit. Ba iad na buaiteóirí ná Rose Williams, Shay Cantwell agus Taylor Moore.

Bhí Tóraíocht Taisce iontach ag muintir an chéad bhliain ar an Aoine 10ú Márta

Bhí Céilí Bunscoile agus Céilí don chéad bhliain   ar an Déardaoin 16ú Márta. Bhí  Spotdhuaiseanna ar fail.

Bhí Tráth na gCeist an dara bhliain:  Máirt 13ú Márta ó  sa halla tionóil don dara bhliain.

Bhí Mistéir na seachtaine ar siúl i rith na seachtaine: Ghlaoigh dalta ón dara bliain leid/nod faoi dhuine cáiliúil nó múinteoir amach ar an gcallaire gach maidin.

Bhí Sesiún cheoil iontach le Jimmy Crowley agus cairde ar an Luain.

Second Year students visit Blackrock observatory

Second Year students went to Blackrock Castle observatory on 12th March.  Students were informed about the history of Castle and surrounding areas and a looked at the astronomy projects that are done in the local area.

Colaiste Muire, Crosshaven victorious in Bank of Ireland Bond Trader Challenge.

 
     
On Wednesday March 8th Colaiste Muire, Crosshaven entered two teams in the Bank of Ireland Bond Trader Challenge. The teams were made up of six 5th year Economics students who had to manage a portfolio of stocks and bonds given nine different scenarios. They had to decide how these scenarios affected their bonds and shares and had to manage their portfolios accordingly. The winners were the team who had made the most economically sensible decisions and ultimately most money.
There were teams from many other schools in Cork city and County.
The top 3 places went to Colaiste Muire, Crosshaven in 1st place- Evan O’Hea, Holly O’Donnell and Eva McCarthy; Colaiste Muire, Crosshaven in 2nd place- Leo Conway, Eoghan Gethings and Rhea Downing; Carrigaline Community School in 3rd place.

Literacy Week (Monday 27th Feb – Friday 3rd March)

In Coláiste Muire, we are constantly endeavoring to promote literacy in our school. Our Literacy Week is taking place from Monday 27th February to Friday 3rd March, to tie in with World Book Day, on Thursday 2nd March. A range of activities are organised throughout the week.
A ‘Pop-up Bookshop’ will take place in the Assembly Hall on Wednesday 1st March from 12-5pm. Members of Waterstones Bookshop will be coming to the school with a selection of books, for both students and parents. Students will be able to avail of vouchers worth €1.50 for World Book Day, which can be redeemed with Waterstones on that day. Below are some of the books available to buy, with these tokens.
Other books will be priced between €10 and €15, with special offers and other discounts also available. Parents are invited to come to the school from 4-5pm, to avail of this exciting venture.
There will be many other events and activities for students throughout the week.

Blackrock Castle Observatory

On February 7th, 1A, 1D and the fifth year international students went to Blackrock castle observatory, as space, earth and the moon are new topics on the science syllabus. Students got a tour of the dungeons, saved the world through an interactive comet game and got a real life view of the sun, stars and planets from inside a dome.

Foireann díospóireachta na scoile

Comhgairdeachas le foireann díospóireachta, Ava Moloney, Ava Lehane agus Luke O’ Donovan a bhí páirteach sa dara chraobh reigiúnach de chuid an Chomórtais Díospóireachta na Phiarsaigh i Mala ar an Mháirt in éineacht le foirne maithe eile. Bhí an bua ag Scoil Áine ó Tiobraid Árann ach bhíodar go hiontach. Táimid an-bhródúil ar fad asaibh!

Coláiste Muire student to represent Ireland at Physics Olympiad in Copenhagen

Andrew Nash was selected for the first round of the Physics Olympiad in October based on his Junior Certificate results. Another Coláiste Muire students, Alice Brady was also selected. From there he achieved a second place award in Physics. He was part of the top four which was selected for the second round which was a practical test. Following this, he was selected to represent Ireland in Copenhagen at E.U. Science Olympiad. We would like to congratulate Andrew and wish him the best of luck on his trip.

Well done to Ava Lehane, Ava Moloney and Luke O Donovan who travelled to Millstreet Community School last night to compete in the second round of the GaelLinn Junior Debating. They are now through to the Munster Competition stage.
