Transition Year students complete their Outdoor Adventure week

Transition Year students have completed their Outdoor Adventure week in Kerry. Students were based in two centres in Aghadoe and Cappanalea. They took part in activities such as kayaking, abseiling, campcraft, raft building and navigation.

Transition Year Orienteering


Over 50 Transition Year students took part in an Orienteering Event in Curraghbinny Woods on Tuesday. The course was set out over 5km and the winners were Sorcha Conway and Claire O’Sullivan with a great time of 43 minutes 50 seconds. Second were Eve Bracken and Tabea Schaffer and third, Adam Ley and Ben Hogan.

Transition Year Coastal Hike

Coláiste Muire local history exhibition and Food Fair – Friday, May 19th 2017

The Transition Year students of Coláiste Muire  invited the wider community to a local history exhibition in the school library on Friday 19th May between 1.40 p.m and 3.00 p.m.
Visitors viewed images and other sources which outline Crosshaven’s rich heritage. Exhibits include the Cork-Passage railway, maritime history, local churches and much more.
Visitors got the opportunity to purchase home-made lemonade, summer relishes and marinades in food stalls. These products were produced in conjunction with the “Future is food” programme.
The students raised 350 euro which will go to the “Save our Steeple” campaign. This campaign aims to renovate the old Templebreedy Church.

Transition Year students complete Soccer coaching course

Congratulations to the twenty three TY students who have qualified as soccer coaches. The students completed their “Kickstart 1” certification following an intensive programme.

Coláiste Muire students travels to India with the Hope Foundation

Transition Year student, Danú Ní Thuama travelled to India with The Hope Foundation for six days over the Easter Holidays. Danú raised €2,500 for the Hope Foundation throughout the year, including and she got the opportunity to go and visit the projects relating to her fundraising.

Each day she visited different projects ran by or supported by the Hope Foundation. She visited crêches, protection homes, rehab homes,schools,a hospital and a disability home. She met amazing people from all different backgrounds throughout the week. Danú would highly recommend anybody who can, to go and help with the Hope Foundation at some point in their life because it was by far the best experience that she has had..
