TY students enter BT Young Scientist 2012
3 November 2011
Pictured above: Colaiste Muire students receiving their award having won the Young Scientist Group category 2011
Thirteen students from TY have entered the BT Young Scientist 2012. Their projects vary from developing artificial soil for arid countries and the perfect rugby place kick to the psychology behind “Where’s Wally” and do “red heads” feel more pain! The news will come out in late October to whether they have been accepted or not. If they are accepted, they get to travel up to the RDS in Dublin for 4 days. The best of luck to them!

Coláiste Muire students completing Young Social Innovator project
20 October 2011
As part of the Young Social Innovator competition fifteen students have undertaken the task of building a biodiversity area in the Crúachán woods. We are working in conjunction with Crosshaven Development Committee.
We will be placing bird boxs and bat boxes in the woods to attract wildlife. We have received talks from birdwatch expert Jim Wilson who also walked the woods with us.
We have bought the materials for the boxes and are building them with the help of the Materials Technology Department.
Look here for further updates.
