Colaiste Muire students become “Well Wishers” by raising €1140 for Jersey Day
On Friday on the 7th of October, Crosshaven Colaiste Muire held a jersey day in aid of children in Wajir in Northern Kenya. The school asked students and teachers to bring in €2 or more, in return allowing them to wear a jersey of their choice for the day.
A total €1140 was raised on the day. The money will be sent directly to Wajir. The money will be used to help children with conditions such as club feet which is a deformity of the feet.
Some Second and Transition Year students have linked up with the children through Skype. The money raised will be used to pay for necessary surgery for four children. Anita Ennis who is the co-ordinator of the project spoke of the nineteen-hour journey which the sick children must take to Nairobi for their treatment. This surgery will greatly improve the children’s quality of life.
The Kenyan children have given the title of “Well Wishers” to Coláiste Muire students in return for their support. 1140
Transition Years sample Thai-Boxing
On Tuesday the 20th of September, Transition year students in the 4A class, were able to experience Thai-boxing.
During the course on Tuesday, the trainers explained how to do basic moves using safety pads. The students found it very a enjoyable day. We would like to say thank you to Carrigaline Thai-boxing for coming up to our school and doing this with the Transition years for the next twelve weeks.
