Transition Year Cork Harbour Tour

On Monday 26th September 2011, the Transition Years went on a boat tour of Cork Harbour. The first stop was at Spike Island. They learned that Spike Island was once used as an army barracks but from the 1980s right up until 2004 it was used as a prison.

After that they went to the Cobh Heritage Centre. There they learned about what Cork Harbour was used for in the past. They also found out about famous ships that left Cork Harbour, like the Lucitania and the Titanic. Everyone agreed that it was a worthwhile experience.
